Partly a bug, partly a misread condition

The September 5 hotfix says several tracking faults were corrected, without naming the challenges. That wording alone does not prove which faults remain. Separately, community reports describe Prologue Challenge 6 still failing to complete. Check the current objective, selected character and chapter first; repeated failure with the right conditions is worth reporting, not endlessly replaying.

Prologue Challenge 6: reports continue after the early-access hotfix

Before another attempt, capture the exact objective text and its current counter. Record the chapter, difficulty and build, then check the result after a normal completion. If it reproduces, submit those details to support. Do not erase campaign progress or repeat a long chapter solely because an unverified comment promises a fix.

The roundup also includes a Kitchen Knife challenge counter reported stuck at 0/90. Treat that as a separate weapon-challenge symptom; it does not establish that the story challenge and weapon counter share a cause. Use the exact label shown in your own build when reporting it.

Check the condition before calling it a bug

The developer names three challenge types, and they do not behave alike. A passive challenge accumulates from ordinary play. A progressive one advances through stages, so early progress can be invisible until a stage completes. A single-player challenge belongs to the story mode and will not move at all during multiplayer, which is the most common false alarm. Civilian progress is also tracked per character, so a challenge attached to one civilian does not advance while you play another.

  • Passive — accrues from normal play
  • Progressive — advances in stages, so early progress may not display
  • Single-player — story mode only, never moves in a 1v4 match

What the hotfix actually claimed

The entry says several challenges were failing to track correctly and that this was corrected. It does not say which ones, it does not say all of them, and it does not describe the cause. That is a narrower statement than the summaries circulating elsewhere, which frequently render it as challenge tracking fixed. If your challenge still refuses to advance on a current build and you have confirmed the condition, you are outside what that entry covered.

What makes a report usable here

The challenge name, its type, what you did that should have advanced it, whether the counter moved at all, and whether it reproduces across matches. If the challenge is attached to a specific civilian, say which one — per-character tracking means the same challenge on two characters is effectively two counters. Reports go to the developer’s support address or Discord, not to this site.

Why costume unlocks make this worse

Alternate costumes for the civilian roster unlock through story-mode challenges rather than through match rewards. That means a player working toward a cosmetic can be running the wrong mode entirely and see no movement — a condition problem, not a tracking bug, but indistinguishable from one unless you know where the unlock lives.

Frequently asked questions

Does progress lost before the hotfix come back?

Nothing published addresses retroactive credit. The entry describes correcting the tracking, not restoring progress that failed to record.

Do challenges track in private matches against AI?

Not stated. Private matches are described as available, but no source says whether challenge progress accrues in them.
