CAMPAIGN

Six chapters played from Michael’s side, with optional challenges that unlock costumes used in multiplayer.

Three challenge types that complete in different ways, and the costume unlocks attached to the single-player ones.
Three things get called playing alone in this game and they are genuinely different. The story mode is a six-chapter campaign played from Michael’s side. A private match against AI is the 1v4 mode with bots filling the seats. Offline play is a service state rather than a mode.
Confusing them has practical consequences. Costume unlocks for the civilian roster come from story-mode challenges, so a player grinding private AI matches for a cosmetic is running the wrong thing entirely.
These pages keep the three separate and say which one a given reward or challenge belongs to.
No. They are independent. The story mode does gate some civilian costumes behind its challenges, which is the one place the two connect.
