Three types, and only one runs in the campaign

The three types behave differently
Knowing which type you are looking at explains most apparent bugs. A passive challenge accumulates quietly from normal play and needs nothing from you. A progressive one moves through stages, so early progress can be invisible until a stage closes — which reads exactly like a broken counter. A single-player challenge lives in the story mode and will not advance at all in multiplayer, no matter how well you play.
- Passive — accrues from ordinary play with no setup
- Progressive — advances in stages, so partial progress may not display
- Single-player — story mode only, and inert during 1v4 matches
Costumes are the reward people actually want
Completing challenges in the campaign unlocks alternate outfits and cosmetic items for the civilian roster, including appearances taken from the original film. Every civilian ships with a default multiplayer outfit, so the alternates are the visible payoff. This is the one place where campaign progress changes what you can bring into a match.
Per-character tracking multiplies the work
When a challenge genuinely is broken
The September 5 hotfix repaired several challenges that were failing to track correctly. Its wording covers several, not all, so tracking faults still exist. Before reporting one, confirm the type and the condition — but if a passive challenge with a met condition still refuses to move on a current build, that is worth sending to the developer with the challenge name and the character it is attached to.
Frequently asked questions
Do challenges give progression XP?
Challenge rewards feed the same progression system as ordinary matches. The developer has not published a value table, so how much a given challenge is worth is not documented.
Are challenges repeatable?
Not stated. Passive and progressive challenges are described by how they accumulate rather than by whether they reset.
