Killer Sense finds the hunt; Shape Jump changes the approach

Michael starts with Killer Sense and Shape Jump. Killer Sense builds Stalk while surveying targets. Shape Jump increases mobility, but entering and leaving it requires darkness or being outside a resident’s line of sight. Shape Dash is available from Shape Jump. Separately, Michael can select three abilities for his loadout; the starting traits are not those three selectable slots.

Start with the objective, not the nearest chase

The official multiplayer design gives Michael a town full of residents to hunt and Special Targets that offer additional rewards. That is a different objective from simply eliminating four opposing human players. Civilians interfere with the hunt because their job is to protect those residents and get them out.

An editorial way to read a match is to ask what each chase is costing you. Following someone for a long time can move you away from the residents they are trying to save. That does not make every chase wrong; it makes target choice an objective decision rather than an automatic reaction to seeing movement.

Identify the current target, the route toward it and what information you actually possess. A heard escape alert, a Stalk cue and a remembered location from an earlier match are not equally current evidence. Build your approach around what the present match has revealed.

Killer Sense and Stalk are linked, but not interchangeable

Killer Sense shifts the view into Michael’s first-person perspective. Focusing on prey builds Stalk, which supports identification, tracking and execution options. The ability is therefore more than a different camera angle, and Stalk is more than a label for walking slowly behind someone.

For learning, watch what changes while using the ability: the target feedback, any displayed Stalk state and which interaction becomes available. The official overview does not publish numeric thresholds, distances or gain rates, so this page does not assign seconds or metres to the process.

If a video appears to produce an execution much faster than your attempt, compare the target’s existing state and the creator’s build before assuming the input failed. A clip that begins after preparation is not evidence that every fresh target can be handled the same way.

Bloodthirst versus Stalk: check both before an execution

For an opening routine, locate residents, use Killer Sense to gather information and build Stalk, then choose an approach that does not commit you to a long chase away from your objectives. Watch the displayed Bloodthirst state and the actual execution prompt as well as the target feedback. This combines the official objective and Stalk description with clearly labeled community experience; it is not a tested optimal route.

The cited players disagree about some execution conditions. This guide therefore does not promise a particular finisher at a universal tier, health percentage or number of hits. If a prompt is missing, record the equipped weapon and execution, target state and both displayed meters. A clip of the complete setup is more useful than assuming that a single meter proves every other condition was met.

Check both ends of a Shape Jump

The important restriction applies at entry and exit: Michael needs the cover of darkness or a position outside a resident’s line of sight. The source uses an either/or condition. It does not require darkness and broken sight simultaneously, and it does not say the exit can ignore both conditions.

Before committing, look for a plausible place to leave the movement state as well as a place to start it. This is a planning recommendation derived from the entry-and-exit rule, not a tested route or a promise that a particular corner always qualifies.

A screenshot of a dark-looking doorway cannot prove that the game currently counts Michael as concealed there. Use the actual availability feedback in the shipped game. If an action is unavailable, reassess the lighting and nearby residents rather than assuming repeated presses will bypass the condition.

A practical reading of the published Shape Jump condition, not a substitute for in-game availability feedback.
SituationWhat the published rule implies
In darknessOne of the stated conditions is satisfied.
Outside resident line of sightThe alternative stated condition can allow entry or exit.
Lit and observed by a residentNeither stated condition is satisfied.
Already moving in Shape JumpPlan a qualifying exit; entry permission is not unrestricted exit permission.

Shape Dash is a movement option, not a fourth slot

The multiplayer overview describes Shape Dash as a forward lunge available from Shape Jump. The later customization overview lists two starting traits, then a separate choice of three abilities. Counting Killer Sense, Shape Jump and Shape Dash as the three selectable loadout abilities mixes together two descriptions of different parts of the system.

Reality Tear, Blackout and Detection Pulse are named examples of selectable abilities. The published overview does not give a complete numerical comparison or establish that these three examples form the best combination. Treat them as examples, not a recommended build.

When comparing loadouts, write down the actual equipped ability names. “I used the dash build” is too vague to reproduce if the mobility option is part of a starting trait rather than the slot that changed.

Lighting changes the approach, not the need to plan

Michael can interfere with illumination through lights, power and temporary blackouts. Since darkness is one route to Shape Jump eligibility, lighting is part of movement planning rather than only visual atmosphere.

For practice, change one environmental condition and observe the result. Does the game now permit the movement action at the location you are testing? Can you still identify where you intend to emerge? This controlled comparison teaches more than triggering several powers at once and guessing which one mattered.

The overview does not establish exact blackout duration, interaction radius, cooldowns or whether every light source behaves identically. Avoid importing those numbers from another asymmetrical horror game. Similar-looking powers are not evidence of identical rules.

  • Check current lighting rather than relying on the appearance of a promotional image.
  • Keep the exit position in mind before starting traversal.
  • Read the equipped ability description for its current constraints.
  • Test one changed condition at a time when an ability appears unavailable.

Resistance can end your hunt without killing Michael

The civilian side can gather equipment, residents and police support. The official description says Michael cannot be killed, but can be detained and returned to Smith’s Grove with the required equipment and enough coordinated resistance. Being unkillable is therefore not the same as being unable to lose an encounter or the match.

The exact detention recipe is not supplied in that overview, so it would be misleading to publish a numbered capture threshold here. What it does establish is that accumulated resistance matters. Read a gathering group as a potential objective threat, not merely as several independent duels.

If Michael is knocked down and the get-up prompt malfunctions, compare your build with Early Access Hotfix #1. A broken prompt is a technical symptom; it should not be explained away as an undocumented ability weakness.

Frequently asked questions

Is Shape Jump an unrestricted teleport?

No. The official description presents a shadow-movement state with conditions on both entry and exit. It does not establish arbitrary teleport destinations.

Do I have to unlock Killer Sense first?

The customization overview identifies Killer Sense and Shape Jump as Michael’s two starting traits. Other abilities are part of progression and loadout selection.

Can Michael use civilian perk decks?

The described perk-deck system is attached to civilian loadouts. It should not be added to a Michael build as though the same loadout rules apply.

Where are the controller buttons and cooldown values?

They are not specified by these written overviews. Use the bindings and descriptions displayed by your current build; this page does not invent platform-specific inputs.
